It seems we cant PM here and I dont know your email, so, I will try to be polite and talk here.
I have been reading backwards thru the threads here and assume you had a past connection with Case.
I grew up, in Wharton County, TX.. There was a lot of rice in Wharton, Matagorda and Colorado counties. And there were Case dealerships in all of these areas as well. But, the only farmers we ever saw using Case tractors and combines were rice farmers.
My family row cropped, but there was a tenant rice farmer on the place I grew up on and for years he use the old case tractors ( dont remember the model, round fenders and hand clutch ) and case combines.
As did most all rice farmers in the area. I asked Dad why a time or 2 and the general consensus was the Case tractors were work horses and their combines were cheap. At that time rice farmers usually ran 2-3 combines where most row crop farmers had 1 if any at all. So it was easier to afford more that one " cheap " Case combine. This is just what I was told.
I remember seeing several Case combines roading down the high way with the reels turning and the shakers moving because they would never completely shut down. I always thought they had to tighten the idlers up to handle down rice without slipping and they were so tight they always turned a little.
I traded for an old Case rice tractor while in High School. It was a model 800 B .. I used it for shredding and discing and called it " Old Mort ".
The pto clutch went out in Old Mort and the rice farmer on our place had a older model tractor that had been KIA parked in a field. I believe it was an LA. I took the clutch pack out of that tractor and rebuilt mine. The clutch pack in his had seldom been used and then to run an auger buggy and were in great shape. he never knew I took that clutch pack, but that tractor eventually went for scrap anyway.
Anyway I just wanted to share a little of my growing up seeing Case equipment at work. I often wonder what happened to all those eagles that sat on top of the dealerships and what one would be worth today.
I also saw you were looking for a 960 Hydro I believe it is. I would bet money that some place around Bay City, EL Campo, Lissie, Garwood, Edna or Eagle Lake, there is one still sitting around.
