Gleaner F Voltage

Working to get a Gleaner F back in operation. Batteries are missing and owners manual says that this unit, a diesel, is 12-volt and says to use two 6-volts in series. Is there any reason why I can't just use a good, strong 12-volt instead? Also, I am in need of an unloading auger "elbow" (between grain bin and unloading auger). Any of you have one for sale or have suggestions where to find one? I am in central South Carolina.

Thanks.

back when that F was built you could not get a 12 volt with enough CCA so used 2 6 volts in series to get enough CCA. Now days you can buy a 12 volt with enoug CCA to do the job. need at least 1000CCA
good luck
