Massey cylinder filler bars

Do I really need them in my 35 for corn? If I do can anybody tell me if I should swap in the later cylinder with 3 supports for mine with 2 or does somebody have a set of fillers with 2 slots they would trade for a set with 3 slots. The set I have is from a Super 35.

You could make your own- I have on my IH#315. As long as the bars are equal length so they weigh the same, there won't be any cyl vibration. Filler bars prevent split cobs in the tank but I have heard of people not using them at all in corn and had no problems. Ideally they should't be used doing grain; vibration can occur at higher cyl speeds and many machines draw straw through the concave better without

I am thinking of cutting the notches that are there about 1/2" wider so they fit mine, or swapping the cylinder out of a later 35 which has more supports in it.
