9500 Deere and the Dealer

I know this is a bit newer than most of the discussion that goes on around here but I will be looking at a 9500 Deere this weekend and someone told me to make sure I run the serial number through JD to make sure it isn’t an import. Has anyone else done this? Or anyone know how to? Thanks in advance.

I wasn't aware that Deere made the 9000 series overseas but if you need to know for sure the serial number plate will tell you where it was made. It will likely say "Moline, Ill." which is where the Deere U.S. combine plant is. I have a 9500 and they are a very good and reliable combine. Hope this helps. Mike

Hey,
Email me privately if you want,I can find out who owned it also, unless its to old for John Deere's WIN system

I forgot to get the serial number off of it today. It appears to not have been beat too badly, although it does need some work, well a lot. Every maintenance item is wore out, feederhouse chain, rasp bars, clean grain and return chains, the bottom of the return elevator housing is rotted off, the external chain that drives the clean grain return elevator, I'm not sure the fore and aft works, the unload auger wouldn't go out, the speedometer doesn't work, the fuel gauge doesn't work, the concave adjust indicator is missing, and the most unique problem is the shaker shoe. It doesn't just go forward and backward straight. When it goes either direction it pulls the right side before the left so it kind of moves in an almost circle motion. Kind of unique. I don't know what would really cause that, any ideas?

Sounds like a great deal doesn't it.

the shoe problem is most likely the hubs for the eccentric bearings that drive the shoe are on wrong. such as on the RH side of the machine, the inside hub was put on the outside, and the outside was put on the inside.

That's why I want to make sure it wasn't an import. I heard you can have all sorts of problems with those things getting parts. Almost the same but not quite.

Anyway I have the serial number now, it keeps telling me that private messaging is being worked on but I will keep trying.

Joe.

HPF you'll have to go a long way to beat that TR machine with a JD just my opinion and I'm a Gleaner guy and I've run em all.

I really like the job that the TR does. I just wish a dealer was closer. Every time something breaks on it you lose a least a days work. The closest dealer is 90 miles away and usually they don't have whatever you need in stock. So I've been looking at red ones and green ones. I would like a red one but most I've seen have been beat or if they are nice they want more than I'm willing to pay. This weekend I'm going to go look at a 7720 Titan II. I don't know if this is such a good idea after that disaster of a 4400 I had, but I figure there is enough people out there that like them I should be able to make it work. Besides, it will fit in with everything else on the farm that way (green).

As far as that 9500 went, thanks to the help of this forum I was able to contact the original owner and find out the machine had close to 9000 hours on it. Yeah, 9000. Shows 2707 on the ticker but it had a cab fire between 6100 and 6200hrs and it was fixed. Turned my head and walked away from that one.
