Gleaner K pulley bearing. replaceable?

On my Gleaner K, the belt tensioner pulley from the engine down to the variable drive pulley is wobbling. I took it off, and the bearing looks like it is pressed into the pulley. It looks like a huge press would be needed to get it out of there. Oats are 2 weeks away from harvest time, so I am not going to have much time to wait on parts.

there is a number on the bearing, I'll try to look it up, but if it is easier to just replace teh whole pulley with something used, I'll go that route, too.

Anyone have one handy? or better yet, anyone try to press the bearing out and replace it?

Thanks,
John

John,

If the pulley itself is made from cast iron, the bearing presses out.

However, if the pulley is stamped steel, you have to replace the whole pulley assembly.

Any AGCO dealer has both types on the shelf.

That style of tensioner pulley is common to other machines, brands. If you have non-Gleaner dealers close by they may have what you need in a similar diameter. It's an idler, so not critical to speed issues.

Well, I was able to get a bearing in it, but now I find I have a HUGE problem that I didn't notice.

The main shaft, where the variable drive pulley is on one side, and the separator clutch is on the other side, has the bearing completely gone out of the separator side.

This looks like a big pain in the rear. Has anyone ever changed this bearing, and willing to give some advice? It looks like the major battle will be removing the separator clutch and pulleys.

Oh, and the replacement bearing I got for the idler pulley has more slop in it that the original one did. I took it to the New Holland dealer where my dad works, and was going to use their press to put it in. There was some important person there, and they didn't want me to be working in teh shop, so one of the mechanics did it, and he pressed it in by putting the force on the inner part, so that might be what caused it. He said it wouldn't hurt it, but I was cringing. I was trying to be polite, but I wanted to remind him that I have been a mechanic longer than he has. anyhow...

Thanks for the help,

John

That main countershaft might look daunting, but it isn't. Pretty easy to get at. Now, daunting would be the main pivot for the thresher housing! Luckily, four machines in 30+ years- one for about 20- never had to replace them, but I make sure they get greased!
