My cousin has a WHITE combine, I believe it is a 8700 or 9700. He has two heads, a 15'ish grain table and a corn head. He paid 2500 for it, shedded all its life, good condition(although the grain table needs a new cutter bar,as he found out cutting wheat this summer). How much does all this junk weigh? How about 4 gravity wagons? He is moving, and he is selling all his junk except his ALLIS 7030. I may be buying his combine, IH cyclo planters, a sprayer, and possible a field cultivator. A friend has the gravity wagons. Think i got a semi load of junk yet?

Anyway, what is everyones opinion of the WHITE combines? I may also be getting another combine, same thing only an OLIVER. this also has two heads, but the corn head is narrow rows versus wide. Think I got 2 loads yet? He also has an Oliver 70 parts tractor I want, an 880, cultivators, some hog feeders....

Got in this late. The machines are not junk. My family had Oliver & White combines forever. Got a Case-IH now because Allied Products sold out White combines(and their customers) in 1984 or 85 or whenever. Had 525,7600,8600,and 8700. Any of them would pick corn with the best of them. Have worked at a White & JD dealer both and the shop was always full at either place. Take that for whatever it is worth.

These combines wouldn't be located in Northwest Ohio, would they?

No, Northeast Indiana, about 15 miles west of Ohio. How did you know?

There is a pair of combines for sale in NW Ohio, an Oliver and a White. I thought maybe these were the ones. They have been sitting out for sale for quite a while now....

What a great example of the proper use of words. Junk is a very good word to use when talking about White and Oliver!

Oliver and White are better than quiet a few others, for example Deeres, Fords, and Cases... Still ain't nothing better than a farmall, though.

If Oliver, White, and IH are so much better than Deere, why is that Deere alone is left standing as it was 60 years ago?????

FYI, Massey Combine Corp, (a spin-off of Massey Freguson that was later re-obsorbed by MF), bought White combines in the 80s and rebadged the Whites as Masseys. You can find some that have both White and Massey names on them, (I have some sales brochures with this). Massey then licensed (?) to Dronninburg combines, which they later bought, to build the Masseys for them.

Lets please not start a color war. The reason IH, Oliver, and White are no longer as they were 60 years ago is because they had bad management, not because of bad products.

It must be an 8700, he or you would never get a 9700 for 2500. Figure 8 tons for the combine, 1.5 for the grain head, alittle more for a 4 row head. White or Oliver, they are the same thing and were built in the Cockshutt factory in Brantford, Ontario. Gravity wagons figure a ton each with gear, and it ain't junk if someone can use it, whatever it is. Good luck with it all.
