JD 214 PTO attachment question

I considering purchasing a 540 rpm PTO attachment for my 1986 JD 214 that mounts on the front of the tractor and ran by the engine. When installed, the PTO faces out toward the RIGHT side of the tractor. I'm trying to remember (and I'm really not sure) did John Deere make a similiar PTO attachment wherein the the PTO faces toward the LEFT side of the tractor? I plan on using my small grain auger on it. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Deere made a model "540" PTO for the "round fendered" 100's and 112's.

They made a model 541 and a 541A for the newer cross-mount motor tractors, and a model 542 for the 120, 140, and 300 tractors with the longitudinally-mounted engines. The PTO shaft for the 120/140/300 series faces straight FORWARD.

Is there a model number plate on the one you are looking at?

I didn't have a lot of luck looking for photos of them on the 'net.

If you can navigate the parts catalog section of jdparts.com, you can view the parts breakdowns for each unit and see how they are set up.

They are in the Consumer Product Accessories Catalog, Catalog number 1149.

Hello Bob, thanks for your response. I don't have any model number(s) at hand but in my 200 series parts book it only shows the attachment with the PTO shaft facing the right hand side. I just thought perhaps I'd seen one like a 110 or 112 years ago that faced the left side of the tractor & it still had the same mounting hardware, belt drive etc. As I said before I may be mistaken.

On the jdparts.com homepage, about halfway down on the left side, click on "John Deere Parts Catalog".

When that page opens, click on "Catalog Number Search" at the mid top of the page.

When that selection opens, into the catalog number, 1149, in the box and click "find".

Please post back and let me know if that worked for you.

Bob, I was able to find what I was looking for -there was a PTO attachment wherein the PTO shaft faces the left side of the tractor. It was the model 540. It calls for installation for 110 & 112 below 100001 serial number. After that model 541A came out for later tractors.
I appreciate your help. Would you happen to know how much the PTO attachments for 200 series tractors are worth should I decide to by one?

Sorry, I'm CLUELESS as to value of the PTO's.

The 540 was for the round-fendered unit, right? will it fit on your later tractor?

Bob, you are correct. It was for the round-fendered unit. I saw a picture of one I believe on Weekend Freedom machines and appears it would mount on the front end okay but I'm not sure about the belt drive hookup depending on what size pulley the round-fendered models usedd verses my 214 model. It has a very large pulley that drives the PTO shaft wherein the 541A has a reduction style gearbox and the shaft faces towards the right side of the tractor. I have no idea what either of the units are worth.
