best transmission for plowing

Hi, doing research on OLDER garden tractors & need to get a clue as to what to keep eye out for in the way of transmissions, etc. in garden tractors as I see other people using turning plows & we are not sure if the transaxles hold up for this type of work? what components do you recommend for plowing/discing or tilling several K-sq veg garden? We have a Simplicity 16hp 6116 3sptransaxle & a MF12, I think hydrostatic, trans.Thanks
 
I have received very good service from my Wards tractor made by Gilson. I bought it new in 1971.
I've plowed a lot of gardens with it. The plow is off a Viking G garden tractor. It's plowed a lot of snow too. Its also hydrostatic drive. Hal

What's best is a matter of preference. Any tractor that was sold as "ground engaging" as in a garden tractor would be ok. A lawn tractor typically has the weaker/smaller/lighter/cheaper transaxle.
