how to repair john deere plastic hood????

I used a fiberglass repair kit to fix the neighbors hood. Its only been a few months but its still holding together.

Fiberglass works great on plastic, fiberglass, metal. Just follow the label directions and it will be ok.

Yep, thats the way they repair corvettes, and they hold up well, especially if the job is done correctly! Remember to grind and sand correctly, taper the repaired area back well, have the dust blown out of the repair area, mix the fiber-glass correctly for the repair, and if needed and accessible, also grind and patch the back side of the repair!
Use a good dust mask and goggles when grinding the glas, and sand well any area where the resin is to be put on, use standard fiber-glass matting for strength, do not use regular auto-body plastic, except for a few depressions.
DO NOT GET ANY OF THE GRINDINGS IN YOUR LUNGS!! OR EYES, ETC!!
Wear long sleeved shirts, long trousers, gloves, and do not blow off the dust to clean it up. Use an old paint brush or something like that. Goggles for the eyes are very useful, too.
All paint must be removed from the repair area of the hood.
And, by the time you are done, and the itching starts, you will wonder why you wanted that job, anyway!
After you get it done, a good dust clean-up will do well, then some primer, glazing putty, more sanding, more primer, then the color coat!
I'd also suggest installing a reinforcement strip in back of the repair area, inside the hood, as they aren't reinforced by the original makers.

I have fixed boats, Vets, snowmobils you name it.
Used to work at a place that made burial vaults.
Yea thats what i said, I ran a chopper gun & also
painted them with gel coat, The dust from sawing etc never bothered me.
Grind & shape it, blow the dust of & mix up some glass & resin & have some patches cut, Dont put to much resin in so it sets up to fast.
We used rollers to get it flat you can use a cheep paint brush & use it for a hammer later.
If you do it wright you dont need any bracing.
It held till something happened to brake it.
If you sand & prime it you wont ever see that its been broke.

3 M makes a ' Sunsetter ' product line that cures with strong sunlight. The nice thing about Sunsetter is, it's very thin, comes in a
stick on sheet, perfect to halt growing cracks,
and as a bondo, for extreme damage. A photo will get you a more conscice opinion, as Corvette, and speedboat owners may solve some riddles for you.
