did international ever not put a serial number on any of the cadet originals? i have seen one with no number on the trans case , it is painted red with a blak painted engine. the person that has it was told by the ih dealer that it was a demonstrator and they were built in about 1958. i thought i knew a few things about the cadet but this story sound a alittle off. thanks for any and all help

1960 was the first production Cub Cadet.

Red paint costs about the same as yellow paint as TSC.

Either the "IH Dealer" or the person that has it has their wires crossed. There were no special painted demonstrators in 1958 and IH put serial numbers on all their Cub Cadets - even their in house test mules.

Now if he had a one with a serial number from 401 to 590 (pre production test units) it might be something really special.

IH stamped Serial Numbers on ALL their Cubs. Starting with 501 and upward.

The Prototype Models had serial numbers of 401-425. Only a few of these still left.

The Serial Number IS stamped into the Transmission Casing and is probably;y under a lot of paint.

As stated prior, the first Cubs were built in 1960. The production Cubs rolled of the line in October 1960,
