honda engine run wide open

You either have the linkage connected or adjusted wrong. If neither of these, you have a bad governor gear which is internal to the engine. You will have to open the engine to repair.

With today"s gas, it is not uncommon to have the governed butterfly "stick" in the wide-open position.

Oil it very thoroughly while working it back and forth (engine OFF, of course).

Hopefully this fixes your problem.
