Do you have a number off the old belt? You could
use a tape measure to get a ball park length. I have a S/G on my Wards tractor and I use a 3/8 X 37" belt. Most auto parts stores will allow you to return a belt in exchange for a different length belt. I did that on my MTD edger. Hal
 
searsparts.com and put in your model number off the tractor (917------) and you should find the sears part number. With that number you can cross reference to find a compatible belt.
