JD 317 hydro pump rebuild

Picked up a 317 and note that the 2 plungers that control whether you are driving or pushing the tractor are leaking. Is there a kit available to fix this problem?

Try cleaning up the exposed length of the pins with fine emery cloth and working the pins up and down while keeping them oiled with penetrating oil.

If you can't get them loosened up and to stop leaking by doing this, you'll need new release valves as they are a sealed, crimped together unit and can't be taken apart to replace the seal "O" rings.

The little valves, part #AM32939 at Deere, cost about $120.00

Supposedly, if you contact a Sundstrand/Sauer distributor they can sell them to you for less.

I have a good complete Hydro for a 317 if you need one. Even with shipping it will be cheaper than a set of valves from JD.

Thanks for the replies. At least I know they are replaceable if need be. The tractor has sat for the past couple years so hopefully they will reseal with use and cleaning. Not so big a leak as to be a major concern but still annoying.
