Got an LT180 in shop that has no governor, falls on it's face while mowing. Air/fuel filters are new, no load RPM's are spec. What to Do???

Hi,
Make sure that it is running on both cylinders. If it's a twin cylinder briggs, they can sound ok and only be running on one cylinder.

You're "dead on"! Left hand cyl was dead due to push rod out of rocker arm socket. Adjusted valves, replaced plugs, and mowed about an acre. Unbelievable how smooth these engs run on 1 cyl. Thanks for your reply. John

Dwag, you'll be back soon. If it came off once, it'll likely come off again. Most likely you have a buildup on the valvestem. You might want to run some Seafoam thru the tank. Might work, might not, if it doesn't you'll need to pull the head and clean the crap off the valve.
