JD 214 fuel line removal

I have a 1986 JD 214 tractor that I've recently overhauled and want to remove and check the fuel strainer in the fuel tank. I've tried reaching the hose clamp holding the fuel line to the strainer every which way I could but to no avail. Is removing the fuel tank the best possible solution? I'm also considering replacing the fuel line also. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I pulled the gas tank on my Wards tractor to replace the gas line hose and fuel filter. It's not that hard to do. If there's any dirt in the tank you can clean it. Hal

You'd probably be better off replacing the fuel line and cleaning the strainer. If you block up the tractor on its frame and take the wheels off, the fender deck comes off easily. With the fender deck out of the way, the fuel tank comes off eaily.

WHY in the world would you take the wheels off to remove the rear fender deck??? Can't figure THAT one out!

In what way are the wheels in the way... I've done it dozens of times and must be missing something!
