Help! I have an old mower with an 11HP Briggs & Stratton engine. I have an illustrated parts list but it does nothing to help me know how to assemble the parts;specificly, the linkage between the carb and the throttle control that mounts on the side of the engine. What hole, slot, or notch does each rod, spring etc. go into? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

If your engine has the rectangular steel box-shaped thing bolted to the left side of the engine (spark plug to front) Here's the scoop: Remove the carb.
The choke rod has a long u-shaped section made into it with a L shaped hook on the other end. the L shape hooks into the choke lever,on the carb, and the long u-shaped other end goes into two horizontal slots on the front flange of the box. You must put that rod in the slots, then holding it with one hand, with the other hand, move the square slider on the box up,or down, and a little cam will roll down to hold the rod in place. The other rod hooks into a lever near the inside top/ back of the box. Neither can be attached to the carb just yet. When you get the rods installed, then hook them to the carb where they go , then bolt the carb into place.
Have a few epithets handy--they will tend to soothe yer mind, until you finally get it all together. HTH: Rustyj
