Ford LGT125

Hi All
I bought a K341AQS Kohler with a blown rod, to replace my K301AQS in my Ford LGT125. There is no block damage.
It is getting new valves & guides and new crank bearings too.
It has about 3 thou wear in the cylinder, so I am going to get it bored 10 over.
[u:37ecccb417]The crank has me concerned[/u:37ecccb417], it is about 5 thou undersized and I am not sure it will clean up 10 under, should I buy another rod or go with the 20 under?
What is the better route? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
Brian

Brian,
A machine shop should be able turn your crank that mic"s .005 under. I had a crank that was .010 under and they wouldn"t turn it to go to a .020 rod. Told me they could weld the journal and turn it to STD spec"s again.
I found a good used crank that mic"d less .0005 under and bought a new Std. rod.
Good luck. Mike

The crank in your K301 is the same as the K341. The rods will interchange too, however the K341's rod is forged. The 321 and 301 rods are cast. A great place to ask about the old K series Kohlers is ihcubcadet.com.

Kohler only supplies a .010 rod. Maybe some aftermarket companies have larger undersized rods, but I'm thinking there's a reason Kohler only goes .010 under.

Gentlemen
I was thinking the rod would be better closer to standard size.
That is why I posted, I knew someone would have more knowledge and give me the heads up.
This is a great forum.
Thanks again.
Brian

Go to engine machine shop with old timer working there. Turn crank to make round, size doesn't matter. Then mill rod and rod cap as necessary to make it smaller than crank, then bolt cap and rod together and bore to running clearance needed. If you don't have a machinist there from old school they won't know what you are talking about. This is much cheaper and it is a fix, not a patch job.
