Club Car starter/generator

I have a 94 club car gas and the starter portion of the starter/generator works fine but the generator portion is not charging. Can I replace the brushes and fix this problem or not?

I am not that knowledgeable about them, but the brushes are also what makes it spin up for starting, so I doubt if they work for starting, that they would be the problem for not charging. I would lean towards the regulator as my best guess. If you have a voltage tester start at the start/gen with the engine running and see if you get voltage coming out, if so, go to the regulator next and check going in and coming out. Good luck, someone who has done this a lot more might jump in and help.

Yes, it's true if they start they "should " charge but isn't always the case. I agree though needs to test the starter/ gen. before throwing parts at it as it could be the regulator or a broken wire somewhere.
