help needed

I'm trying to fit a 300 straight six motor into a garden tractor. I was wondering if anyone here has tryed this. If possible, I need all the information I could find (tranny, rear end, wiring). my E-Mail adress is [email protected] Thanks in advance.

If you can look at it and figure yourself what needs to be done then go for it. If not I think it is not going to work out very well. You would have to have decent metal fab skills. One thing you'd better do is widen the front axle and probably the rear too.

Popular Mechanics(?) had a couple projects awhile back- one was Pinto drive train garden tractor. Bellville area -Christianson's gas station- had a puller project using Ford rear end shortened- the Ford has straight tubing axle housing and can be shortened easier than tapered axle GM. What kind of garden tractor frame are you using? A old Murray probably wouldn't hold up, a 6 inch C section H frame using copy of old Ford transverse leaf beam front axle as used on dragsters and shortened tube offset left rear end, transmission offset right/center using a transfer case chain- 20 tooth sprocket on tramsmission /50-60 tooth sprocket on rear end, E150 to 350 steering box might work for you. This was best I can remember of Pop Mechanics garden tractor project with Pinto engine. RN

Go find you an old copar panzer or pennsylvania panzer garden tractor, ""It already has the narrowed chrysler rearend from the factory"" Heavy built too if you can find one.....

Thanks guys. I'm probably goin tobuild a frame from scratch, but i was going to put Ford sheetmetal on it. What would be the best rearend to use? I've already got a front axle that should be big enough.
