Roper YT160BT Transaxle

A good friend of mine has a Roper Yard tractor, model# YT160BT, ser# 2784 S02136 that needs a few parts for the transaxle. The transaxle has a sticker on the rear of it that has 917.10205X on it and ser #0156 S03422. I have a Peerless service manual and it does not look like any of them. I understand that Roper is now American Yard Products and that 917 is a sears code for Roper corp. So, my questions are:

Did only sears sell Ropers?

Who made the transaxle?

Where can I get a parts breakdown of the tractor/transaxle? Any sites with online parts catalogs that I have found don't list Roper tractors.

You might want to try searstractor.com--it's a good info site, fellow named jody runs it,nice guy.Dude11

Sears will sell anybody's machine - provided they are cheap enough.

To answer your question, yes, Sears sold primarily Roper/AYP "back in the day".
Parts may still be availableon the Sears Site.

Hi Tim in NB,
I got the same tractor and transaxle, the differential gears were sheared(mostly because they never put a brass bushing in both axles resulting in the axel mounted in the white metal housing and eventually wearing an oval groove into it. Anyhow Tim I wondered if you found a model and make for it. My local repairman here in PEI told me it is a Foote transaxl. It is very similar to the Foote 4000 transaxle you can see in an exploded view at www.m-and-d.com/dana foote parts except the 4000 is a six-gear instead of a four-gear transaxle. I got the differential gearsd ( 3gears and a shaft locally for $48 but my troubles are still not over because when I installed the new gears I discovered that the springs and ballbearings were missing out of the gear shift plates, they hold the gear stick in the selected gear. So I am now looking for a diagam and description and source for the springs and ball bearings. Please let me know how you made out Tim.
Thanks. Ted Connolly (tel: 902 6754666)
