cub cadet 882 diesel

I have a cub cadet 882 with the Kubota 3cyl diesel engine . The drive shaft is very inadequate for the torque off the diesel engine to the transmission. I know the next series up 1882 1782? had a much beefier shaft I would like to know if anyone has this tractor and has had a sucessful upgrade to a stronger design. The engineering department obviously stuffed the diesel in the gas hole and failed to consider the effects of power and torque to the rest of the system. I like the tractor and want to use it as it is very cheap on diesel for the work it puts out. I have already replaced the shaft and hub ends once and now my hydraulic line is nicked where the nuts go into the vibration dampner rubber disks.

You can put the later style cub cadet drive shaft that has CV joints at each end. I have seen that done to several diesel cubs. I have also seen guys put U-Joints on each end of the drive shaft and eliminate the roll pin/rag joints. My 782d has the winter start clutch infront of the rear joint and that seems to help a bit, espicaly with cold weather starting.
