John Deere 111 drive belt

I have a little 5 speed JD 111 that my daughter drives around. It needs a drive belt as the old one is stretched and keeps jumping off. Is this one of those belts that I have to go to the John Deere dealer for? If so, what kind of price am I looking at? Thanks

I ran over to the dealer and got the belt today. Man! What a job putting that thing on! There must be a secret that I don't know because I never want to do that again! Thanks for the help.

You get what you pay for when using a cheap FHP belt for a job like this.

Correct belt has a 32 cross-section, an "A" belt has 40 cross-section.

NO WAY will the cheap replacement work as well, or last as long.

PLUS, this belt has a tough job... is is also used as the tractor's clutch. Needs to grab and release properly for safe operation by the trator, not to mention by a kid!

It is true that a fractional horse power belt has a 40 degree cross section, but the A series belt is a conventional belt like I use on my 10HP Sears Suburban tractor to drive a 42" mower deck.

Thanks. As appealing as the $8 price is, I think $20 is not too much to pay for my kid"s safety. Thanks for the number. I assume I need to get this at the dealer then?

I'd buy the dealer belt. After all, if you want it to last a long time, buy the dealer belt. And, when you buy the belt at the dealer's place, ask them for a print-out of the belt routing, because you will think its too long, and want to take it back, thinking its the wrong one!(Don't ask me how i know this!)
