agway/cenex/mtd question

i have a agway/cenex lawn tractor . the steering rod that goes between the steering shaft to the front of the tractor and connects to the iie rod bends at the turn a support was welded at that potnt now the rod is flexing at a new point . i checked the steering, no binding , greased well ,bushings feel good.does anyone have this problem. it is a good machine old but good .

If I recall right there was a recommended upgrade for the drag link in 600 series about 10yrs back.An improved link was available for those having problems.This "new" link became the standard issur part on newer models.If your rig is a 600 series about mid 90s that could be the problem.Elsewise if your steering is free,it might have"jumped a tooth",in which case arm is still pushing spindles after they hit their stops,in hard turns,overloading the draglinks strength.
