[i:3ad2fa279c]If this for sale ad is in the wrong place, please let me know![/i:3ad2fa279c] I've been lurking for months and finally signed up. YT has been a great resource.

Got a 1981 Case 222 for sale. Love to say it was only driven to Church on Sundays by a little old Lady -- but instead, it cut grass. Lots of grass. Still cuts great, too. Because of the cast iron rear end, it goes right up steep hills easily. (Something my new 20hp Husqvarna rider won't do well.)

The wife bought me the new tractor (so she can cut grass too), so I'm finally selling the Case. Had a valve job done on it, and it has new power again. Still has more power than my new Husqy! As much as I'd like to keep it (because it can do far more than cut grass), we need to pay off the new mower.

You can see more info and pictures of it here on my eBay ad.

[i:3ad2fa279c](I'm not trying to lure anyone away from the forum -- I just want to provide a better source of info on the tractor.)[/i:3ad2fa279c]

Make me an offer if you like, but not well below it's value, please!

Thanks for looking!

If you consider e-Bay to be the criteria when it comes to determining the value of a tractor, then I"d have to say that your BIN price is a bit of a stretch. Sure, your unit is in decent condition for the year but I"ve watched many similar units sell for half of your posted BIN figure.

But.... as they say, you can always come down but you can never go up. Good luck in getting that kind of money.

I'm in Lexington.

You are absolutely right, [b:08e558bcc2]Tom[/b:08e558bcc2], it's a high BIN, -- and I suppose that has a little to do with separation anxiety? lol. Love it or hate it, ya gotta like that eBay makes it pretty easy to get an item introduced to a big market fast, and with flexible options!

That's the great thing about the [i:08e558bcc2]Best Offer[/i:08e558bcc2] button. It gives me a chance to actually consider offers which are more in line with actual market value.

There are of course, buyers shopping for a mechanically sound 222 to restore, and to some of them, $1000 may not be too much. To someone else just looking for a good strong "don't make 'em like they used to" mower for grass, it might only be worth about half that.

I don't think I'll let it go for less than $800, but there's always room for bargaining -- and I could use a good medium sized chainsaw!

It would certainly surprise me if your BIN option was actually used. LOL But stranger things have happened. From a collector's POV, your unit isn't all that desirable, sad to say. If it was a very early 222, that might be different. If it was a 222 Demonstrator, then that would make a definite difference.

Be honest.... LOL You don't really want to sell this tractor because you obviously love it alot more than the thing that your wife selected. The up-side for you when dealing with your wife is that you put it up for sale but no one wanted to buy it.

"Gee honey. maybe we should consider just selling that new one, instead."

We rarely want to part with anything, do we? Some things we let go -- some things we hold on to.

As for it not being desirable to a collector, that depends on the collector, not generalizations. I've had quite a few Case tractors over the past 30 years, and they've all been valuable (restored or not) to someone.
