Tecumseh HH-120 ignition

I have a Sears Suburban 12 hp with the Tecumseh HH 120 engine. It has the solid state electronic ignition. It went bad several years ago and I was able to find a used one that worked about 15 years. But, now it went bad too and it seems impossible to find. I went to the Stens site and found an electronic ignition coil (part #460063) that says it replaces OEM tecumseh (part #30569A). Would that replace my old pulse transformer? Thanks for any help. Bob

I don't recognize that part #, but I don't think it fits an HH120. I believe the best thing is to go to www.overnight-solutions.com and get a 12V retrofit kit. You might also look at www.home.earthlink.net//~edstoller and get some ideas on a work-around.

Try going to link below,from alpha index click T,select techumseh,in part# search enter 610906,see if that matchs yours,if not go back 1 pg & download a parts manual,have mod & spec# handy,get part# for coil,go back & enter that part# in search.

hi bob you can change your engene over to the other type coil by removeing ever thing allthe way to the block take a 12hp off a wheel horse, john deere or any other tractor and put them on yours i do it all the time if you have any quiestions you can call me 812 483 7859 ps you will need to change the plate that bolts to block that stater bolt on thanks Dave

Thanks everybody. Joe the coil on the site looks different than mine. The one on ebay looks the same as on the site. I was surprised the bids were up to $66 for used coil, wow. I think I paid $25 for a used one but I think it was about 15 yrs. ago though. I don't have another 12 hp engine to take parts off for a swap to the tecumseh. I saw the site for overnight solutions, but was skeptical. Do you know of anyone who bought a retro kit from this company?
Thanks for your help, Bob

Bob email me I think I have what you need .I have new old stock Tec #610759 this is the part that goes under yhe flywheel one The Sears engine. If that is not what you need I have every thing off another engine to change yours over as stated in a another post.I"ll sell the nos part for$75 plus shipping or the other set up for the same $75.plus shipping. All guarenteed to work and be good.Where are you located?I have several 8,10,and 12 hp HH series engines.

I just wandered across this old thread and thought I'd throw in my $.02 just in case you're still considering your options, I had the same problem with an HH120 in a Bolens 1257, those units are getting rare+expensive and it's a complete crapshoot whether even an NOS unit is going to be any good :(
I built a crank-trigger ignition that's working *great*, and I did it for less than $50 :)
The ~edstoller site has good info, combined with the info on the site I'm attaching it was pretty straightforward to combine a Chevy crank-sensor+a GM HEI module+a Ford Duraspark coil for a cheap, repairable, and durable ignition :)

I have the same ignition system on an HH100. I had the same problem and wondered what to do. After some research on google, I found a great place to obtain parts for these engines. It's called Farmer's Exchange, located in Kennewick, Washington. Try their website: www.farmex.now.tc

Hopefully they can help you out, if you haven't already got it running!

Keith....:)
