You will need the tractor model number to look it up. A lot of the older Sears tractors used a high amperage starter key switch instead of a starter solenoid. I ran into this problem on my tractor and added a solenoid and used a standard newer model low amperage key starter switch. If your ignition switch is bad, there is a used one on eBay for sale.|
Somebody added a solenoid to mine way back when. The wiring diagram for my model tractor doesn't show one, but there is one wired in.
So, my tractor is running finally - new motor (rod, piston, valves, ect), new solenoid, new ignition switch, new headlight switch, new ammeter (leftover OEM sears), new voltage regulator, new wiring, new battery and much more. :)
