For several years I have put up with a "Chute Rotation System" on my snowblower that just didn't work well. It was a poor design to begin with and age/use did not help. The last time I was in Nebraska I went to the Surplus Center and picked up a small motor for $18.95. (Item 5-1367, pg 115 in their 2007 catalog. 1/70 hp Entstort gearmotor, 44 rpm 12/24 v dc motor.)I made a hub for the metric shaft and welded a small bicycle sprocket to it. I added two 5/16" rolled rods on the base of the chute to form a channel for the chain to ride in. The chain ends are pinned to a tab I welded on the base of the chute. I plugged the wiring into the socket on the rear of the tractor that was originally used for the electric three point hitch. Now the dash switch is left/right instead of up/down. I am very pleased with the results. I will post pictures in the gallery.
