Weight of Power King 2418?

Could anyone tell me where I might find weight specifications for my Power King 2418 (1979) on the internet? I never had a manual for it and I'm setting it up for pulling. I'd like to have an idea of the base weight but I can't seem to find this fairly simple bit of info anywhere! I'm guessing 700 to 1000 pounds but I need to dial it in closer than that. Thanks.

Nice pic....I got a few of pictures that guy and his tractors pulling..Cubs normally rule in the pulling arena, but Art(the guy in the picture) says he whips them all the time with something that everyone says has a severe disadvantage, a hydrostat tractor. I'm getting ready to stir things up with mine down south. I need to get a single cylinder though to keep from having to pull in all the modified classes. I always like the PK's though. Good luck with your project.

The base weight of a 1979 2418 is (and they give this with two different tire sizes) 1036 lbs with the 8.30-24 tires that are 38 1/2" in diameter or 1020 lbs with the 8.3-24 tires that are 37 1/4" in diameter. 75% calcium adds 264 lbs to the rear (per tire I think) and the same adds 40 lbs to the front. Frount wheel weight weigh in at 47 lbs while the rears weigh 216 lbs. per wheel.

Good choice for pulling. I just saw one win last weekend at our show. late 60s 2414 pulled 2730 lbs on a sled. I have some more specs if you need them.

Jeff, thanks for that information. That helps me a lot. I think you are right, this tractor will pull well. Our club here in western MA has a garden tractor pull during every regular antique tractor pull, but it almost got eliminated due to lack of interest, and one dedicated gentlman that kicks everybodies butt with a couple of Ariens GTs with hydrostatic (photo above). In our club the garden tractors pull sometimes up to 4000 # with a max. 2200 # tractor weight and 21" hitch height for mod. class. (stock draw bar for stock class) I've had this tractor for a year with intentions of setting it up but never took the time. When I saw "need" for some competition I decided to get it done. I think I can take and Ariens w/ hyro with this PK. So far here at home a few practice runs have really impressed me. The only fly in the ointment was not knowing the weight. I have plenty of weights to play with because I pull w/ a full sized John Deere 620. My only slight concern are the narrow rear tires. Fatter tires seem to do a little better. (more foot print)
Anyway, thanks very much for your reply. If it's easy enough to do I would love all the specs. you have for the PK 2418. You could e-mail them to Thanks again.

It would be easier to give you all the specs if I could scan them in as an attachment. Right now that's all down. If you get this PK set up right, you'll be able to out pull anything and use that Ariens as the chain. We had a 20hp Allis 720 fall to a 12hp Power King. They are geared to pull. Many pulls wont allow them in because of the wheel size but all club rules are different. I'll email you some gear ratios here soon. That would probably be of most use to you now. You may want to join my Power King yahoo group as well. Let me know on that and I can send you the link.
