I am rebuilding a Lauson/ Techumseh for my father. Model V22H-3-228 Serial 8166840. The entire ignition assembly is mounted on a hub on the crackcase which is held on by 2 bolts. The hub can be spun in a small arc which will advance or retard the timing. How can I set the timing when I put this motor back together? It would be easy to set the timing so that the points open at TDC but I'm not sure that is the best place. This motor goes on an old Bolens Tiller that mf father wants to use so I need the motor to run it's best. Thanks

If you want an answer from Tecumseh experts, post over on the tech board at www.perr.com.

There's Tecumseh PROS over there.

I do not know what timing should be but if you look closly at the adjustment slots you may be able to see marks the bolts made when the ignition assembly was originally bolted to the engine.
