I have a large garden tractor with a 3pt hitch, hdro, it's a Mark Master and only info I can find is possibly it's a MTD 995A (possibly like a 143-995) any info would be helpfull, I have no idea what year it is but around 1980-89 I think it has a Kohler, its all shaft drive to trans and deck. problem is it only moves very slow, neighbor changed a trans hose and then put Car tranny fluid in it, and it hasn't moved since, what fluid should be in it? and is it likely toast? is it worth anything?

I have a 96 White 2055 that is a 900 series MTD tractor, model 146-992-190 that sounds similar to what you're describing. The brake on mine hangs up once in a while causing it to move very slowly. When I release the brake, I always put my toe under the brake pedal and pull it up. The trani on my tractor can take a whole range of fluids including auto trani fluid, but the recommended fluid is 20 Wt engine oil which I find at a farm supply store.

thanks,
I also found out that it should be the same as the White GT1855 from 1985-1987 range, so yes I bet it is similiar to your 2055.
thanks

Let me know if you'd like a copy of the manual. I could probably scan it and send it via email.
