My friend has a lawn/garden tractor with a 12hp techumse engine. The problem is: he has to cover the carb completely with his hand to get it started and it only runs full speed. Anything less than full speed and it quits. The numbers on the engine are: OVXL120 202015B Ser. 8098D
He thinks the tractor may have been made by Co-op. It's dark green with a yellow seat. Are there any sites with info on the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hector

carb needs cleaning. Not getting fuel during start up. Covering it is like super choking it and sucking all the availabel fuel to the cylinder. The low speed fuel circuit in the carb is plugged. Try some B-12 in the fuel and/or clean the carb.

Hi Bo, thanks for the reply. My friend says the carb was in terrible shape but he cleaned it and now it's spotless. Maybe he missed the low speed fuel circuit. I'll mention this to him. Thanks again.

On some Tecs carbs check bottom of bowl for large nut and needle assembly- if he has this note vent hole can be plugged and not noticed when cleaning by someone unfamiliar with Tecumseh. Wire ream/pressure blast jets and vents. RN
