I have a Sears ST 12 garden tractor. Does anyone know if any parts are available for this little tractor. It has a 12 hp Techumseh engine and a manual 3 piont hitch. I use this tractor in my garden and it is beginning to show some wear. Trans. drive belt needs replacing and a couple of other minor things need attention also. I did not but the tractor new and I dont have a manual (operator or parts ) and Sears says they can`t check to see if any parts are available if they dont have #`s,,,,, ,,,,, , HELP!!!!! !!!

Go to the SEARCH bar and type in vintage sears garden tractors. You will see one link that has that name. Hi-Light it and it will bring you to that link. Its a good sight for old Sears garden tractors. Sorry I can't tell you a faster way to get to that link, but I'm just learning these machines! Have Fun! Phil

Jody,

The model # should be on a tag on the "tunnel" if you are seated on the machine and look down between your legs you should see it. It was (at least on most) a metal tag riveted on. The model will start with 917. Check the link below to the Vintage Sears site for some info on your machine. Please post here if you do find the model#, if you can not I have other suggestions at least for belts and similar.

Hope that helps, Rob

As previously mentioned, check for a number. Sometimes they are underneath the hood. Like a decal. Raise hood and take a looksie there.

If you find a model number Sears has a web site for parts with part lists and gives cross references for various parts. It is really handy especially if all you have is the model no. I'm not sure if the link will work but this is the address of the parts page.

jody, many (if not most) of the generic parts (bearings, belts, etc) are still available. if not from sears, then from outside sources. you'll have to know specifications for what you need. for example, my 1967 takes a 5/8 x 79 drive belt. since i know that i can get the belt anywhere.

stuff that is specific to your model (the hood, dash, front grille, etc) are likely NLA. in that case you'll need to find a good junk yard.

there are several sears/craftsman clubs around the internet devoted to the old sears machines. check the clubs/groups at yahoo, or the communities at MSN. as a member of these clubs you'll find experts on the old sears stuff who can assist. many buy and sell spare parts there.....

Have you searched the tractor thoroughly for any id tags that would have the model numbers? Sears is usually pretty good about providing a semi-permanent embossed tag to show model & serial numbers. For a drive belt, you may just want to take the old one off and get it matched at your local auto parts or farm store. Hope this helps - good luck!
