Compression is 70

I have a single cylinder 15 hp kohler with 70 lbs . I put new valves in it to try and raise compression. But that didn t work. Now the coil quit - I pulled kill wire off coil still nothing . If I get a new coil . Will that be enough to make go ?

It would sure help if you gave us the model number of your Kohler engine. I can think of at least three different engines that may have been
labeled 15 hp and they are all very different engines. There was a CV15, some of the SV engines were labeled 15 hp and there is one that
resembles a single cylinder Briggs and Stratton that also is about 15 hp.

That said, If the engine was equipped with compression release on the camshaft, it very likely only develops about 70 psi compression when
spun by the starter. (It should be right much more after the engine starts and gets up to speed.)

I am also guessing that the engine was running and quit and after that you did the compression test. The only way to answer your question
for sure is to put a new ignition module on it.

That blasted thing is a ch 15 .

It had spark just after I got it together. Ran maybe 10 sec and died. You re right about the ACR just read about it. That makes me feel a little better. Got the motor loose going to replace coil. Darn drive shaft
