1964 simplicity broadmoor lawn tractor

I have a old (1964) Simplicity broodmoor lawn tractor that has a 6.5 hp briggs and stratton engine. Can anyone tell me or have a clear diagram of how the throttle and choke linkages are supposed to hook up?
The way mine is set up right now, is that they are backwards to the indications on the panel that has the choke and throttle levers on the operators station. The choke cable attaches directly to the carburetor. The throttle linkage attaches to the side of engine with a rod going from there to the carburetor.

Your engine model no. Should be 146702 type no. 0122-01 but good luck finding a manual. You could ask on Smokestack, theres some knowledgeable old timers on there. Or Simpletractors.com. I have some old B&S manuals, but theyre about 200 yards away from me right now. Ill look tomorrow and see if I have a diagram for that engine.

We had a REALLY good Simplicity dealer in my old home town, lots of Simplicity rear engine riders with the tiller or lever steering, and the Broadmoor lawn tractor and became really popular. So many Simplicity's sold the local Deere dealer didn't want to compete with the Simplicity shop, so the Simplicity dealer took on the Deere lawn & garden line because being only 15 to 20 miles from all the Deere Plants in Moline all the Deere employees wanted to buy a Deere mower.
The IH dealers had no trouble selling Cub Cadets. Dad's first Cub Cadet was a 1963 Original, which was traded for a 1965 #70 which happens to be refurbished, recovered with a freshly rebuilt 10 hp Kohler and new paint. When I get ambitious there will be a new pair of 6-12 Firestone 23 degree lug rear tires on it.
I have a 1968 model #72 Cub Cadet that I bought heavily used about 1980 or '81. I replaced the 8 hp replacement engine with a freshly rebuilt 10 hp Kohler, then nearly wore that engine out, over 1400 hard hours mowing, plowing, blowing snow, grading dirt, and more mowing. It's now got a hopped-up 14 HP Kohler in it. And about the year 2000 I bought a freshly rebuilt & refurbished 1980 982 with ALL the options. By the looks of some things it had LOTS AND LOTS of hours on it by some of the wear in some places. But they've mostly been cheap fixes.
I still see a Simplicity or sometimes an Allis-Chalmers garden tractor since Allis owned Simplicity, both my old local IH dealers closed in the late 1970's or early 1980's, even the Case-IH dealer that replaced them is gone, but I can order about ANY Cub Cadet part I need on-line if my local Cub Cadet dealer's don't have it on the shelf.

Back in the late 70's I worked at the IH Farmall plant in Rock Island along with my Dad and Uncle. Did a brief stint also at the combine plant in East Moline.

Does youre throttle connection look like this? Might be as simple as which way the cable is connected. Either from above or below.

Thanks for this very clear picture. The throttle cable does hook up from the top as shown. On my engine the choke cable is separate and hooks up to the outside of the carburetor.
Right now, when I start the engine, it doesn't want to idle down and stays at high throttle. It looks like I have more work to do.
