John Deere 318 Starter improvement Kit Instructions / Vi

Hello, I am going to install a starter improvement kit on my John Deere 318. I have one, but do not have any instructions. I think I can figure it out without them, but my theory is that you can never have too much information. I would also be interested in any how to videos that may be available. Thanks, Jack

I hope you didn't pay the big price for an official kit, all that's needed is an ''ice cube relay'' and some wire and connectors/terminals.

Some of the Deere online parts sellers have links to Deere literature of sorts. It appears that Deere has sold a starter
improvement kit for many years. The instructions for its use may have been revised somewhat over the years as the kit was
used for different models.

Another link I found is:

Now I know why that relay is hanging on my 318. I couldn't find it in my service manual wiring diagrams. Now I need to get a relay that I can hang on something. It just hangs down and lets water (aka ice) get in it.

Thanks to everyone who responded, wore out, Tomin, and Arvin. I actually have made them from scratch years ago as wore out suggested, and very grateful for the schematic. I used some relays off of an old Buick fuse box. I found a couple of these kits on ebay for $10 each, so I just bought them, and need to use one a 318 I am selling. Oh if anyone has a video please share it with me. Thanks again to everyone!

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I used a Starter improvement kit that I purchased on ebay for close to $10.00. It is appears to be high quality and waterproof. Thanks to wore out for providing the schematic. Everything went well, the only problem I had was removing + terminal nut, it was hard to access because of starters position in the tractor. If you are having problems with your starter not working every time, try out a starter improvement kit. Thanks again!
