Sealed unit but you can change fluid if you really want too.
This one no longer goes up hills when hot.
Has any one ever used a fluid other than Tuff Torq and got more life out of Hydro.
Thanks

I ve changed the fluid on one and it certainly helped. I just used regular engine oil if I recall correctly. It wasn t a specific brand. I found a lot of discussions online about what worked best, but I can t recall the exact weight I used. I THINK it was 10w-30.

Tuff Torq has recommended 5w50 full synthetic motor oil in at least some of it's units.. I have a K91 with that in it. JD of course recommends it's own fluid but TT says 5w50 is an OK sub.

What the other guys said. Try the fluid change first.
Last I knew, Tuff Torq still sold replacement parts for them and
there are YouYube videos to walk you through the repair.

I tore up one of mine years ago. I tore it apart, found what looked to be the failed parts, contacted them and got the parts, a free gimmie cap and instructions to use heavier oil. lots of trannys on my place use 20w-50 and if that causes a winter problem for you go to 10w-40. Mine originally spec'd 10w-30. That may solve your life problem once you find the failed part(s).

I had never been in one before and it wasn't a big deal to find the bad parts and fix it. You can siphon fluid out of sealed units by going down the vent port (rubber tube open on the end of that port) which is on top. Owner's manual gives the depth from the top of the vent hole in the casting.....if you have no reference it's about 5/8 the depth of the casting below the hole.
