Will a Kohler k301 starter work on a Kohler m12 engine? Thanks!

Typically, the K301 starter would mount to the engine block and the M12 starter mounts to the aluminum main bearing endplate that extends beyond the flywheel, so I'd have to say ''no''.

DEPENDS. That late model K301 were upgraded to an Alternator System, that used a Flywheel & Ring Gear. The ONLY way to know for sure, would look up the part number from Kohler's "Spec" (Specification) number, and compare.
