We went to look at the tractor again . We put a good battery in it to try to crank it sitting in the seat the stater did not engage. Turning the key to the left a light on the dash came on so I thank electricity was in the system. The brake pedal was locked light. The owner has died and I have never messed with a diesel, my friend knows nothing about lawn mowers either. I have a couple of JD mowers and I know you have to be sitting in the seat, brake locked, blade out of gear to get them started. What is the proper way to get this JD 755 compact utility diesel tractor started? Thanks

Just a guess, shifter in neutral, clutch pedal down,PTO in neutral or the electric
switch off.

Jiggle the forward/reverse pedal, might be
the neutral position switch is bad or out of
adjustment. Unlike JD mowers, the brake does
not have to be pressed or locked down, and
the high/low range can be in any position,
PTO does have to be off. Our 855 does that
at times
