318 JD hydro lever position moves too easily

Hydro lever wants to move too easily.. Going up hill it moves to slow the tractor, and going down hill it moves to speed the tractor. I know some is normal, speeding or slowing but you can see the lever move. Is there an adjustment? I see a 317 was adjustable. Holding the lever is a pain.

Sounds like the control dampner is bad. I had a 400 that did the same thing

The dampener seems stiff enough, but maybe.

That's how mine felt, but it let the lever gradually creep. I replaced it and solved it on mine

Remove the battery and the battery tray and you will see the friction pads and the nut to put more pressure on the hydro lever friction mechanism, the nut is accessed though the RH side of the steering/control pedestal.

What is your tractor's serial number? DEERE used 3 or 4 versions of the hydro control lever setup, if you post your serial number I will post the exact details of the lever tension setup for your tractor.

Dampeners are $140 to $200. Guess I will put up with it.
