Troy-built Horse Replacement engine?

I think I have read that some people have replaced the 6 HP Tecumseh with a 6.5 Predator. Is this pretty much a direct replacement or is there lots of changes to make? Both have 3/4 drilled shaft??
Thanks Geno

Pretty much a direct replacement. You will need a metric bolt for the end of the crankshaft to hold the drive pulley on. You will also need to work out throttle cable, although I did operate mine for a sort time using only the throttle lever on the engine. Only problem was throttling down at the end of the row. If you're more agile than this old fat man, that may not be an issue for you.

I am thinking the last re-power I did on a Horse also required metric mount bolts as well as the bolt that goes in the end of the crank.

P.S.: The last time I tried, I couldn't get the original throttle control for a Troybilt Horse any more, So I went to NAPA and bought a 9-foot choke control. I cut the length of cable and sheath I needed off the choke control-off the opposite end from the choke knob, of course- and screwed the sheath-the outer part of the cable- into the socket of the original control lever and then cut, bent and installed the inner wire.

I think some of the earlier Predator engines may have had metric mounting bolts. Mine did not and I reused the bolts from the Tecuseh engine. I bought a complete throttle cable, lever and all. Cant remember if I had to adjust the length or not. But all in all, a very easy upgrade.
