Wheel Horse D250 / Renault 4cly water cool engine garde

Wheel-Horse D250 with 4cyl Renault engine (800-01) .8L "845cc". The D250 was made in Europe as a GUTBROD2500 and labeled for Wheel-Horse. Does anyone have any information on this engine? Such as valve settings? This engine was used in many applications from forklifts to sports cars. It produces about 30hp but was rated in the garden tractor as 19.9hp to bypass some safety requirements. It is water cooled. The tractor has a hydraulic three-point lift and both front and rear ptos. It is a beast. I printed the owner's manual, but I have no information on the engine such as valve lash, timing, point and spark plug settings.
Please, any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't find Wheelhouse specs I
should have specs for 4CV, 5CV, Dauphine
and Caravalle. Not sure specs would all
be same as for cars. Now where is my
manual???

Where'd you find one of them? I've had an eye open for years for one, now I'm getting too old to car.

Duner,
The valves, timing, points, and plugs settings should be the same for all of the Renault 4cyl .8L "845cc" engines. It did not matter which vehicle the engine was in.
If you could look these values up, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Copperhead

The info I was able to find is. Intake
valves .15mm Exhaust valves .20mm these are
cold settings. Plugs .25 Timing depends on
distributor markings ST and R284 are 5-7
degrees BTDC R252 is 1 degree BTDC to 1
degree ATDC. Hope this helps

Valve cold In .006 th inch ---
EX cold .008---
Ignition points .018
Spark plugs .020
Timing is static with light bulb.Line up marks.
My notes say centrifugal advance starts at 1600 rpm and max out at 35 crankshaft degrees at 3600 rpm. That does not sound correct for you application.
They used for sure 2 different distributors in cars.
Compression ratio varied between 7.25 to 8.0
Pretty sure I saw your engine in a Toro once.

They were also used in Toro Groundsmaster 72 units and it was labeled a Continental R839 so Toro or Continental may have service
manuals or service information. If I remember the manual package for the Groundsmaster had the engine manual separate and stand
alone from Continental. So check you local golf course they might have one in a file cabinet drawer.
