One of the hardest working cub cadet 147

Not saying it is THE hardest working cub cadet out there but definitely one of the hardest working 147s. This little guy was converted into a filbert (also known as hazelnut) sweeper back when it was brand new. The main 14 hp Kohler engine runs transmission and front sweeper head. The rear 12 hp Wisconsin runs a fan on left side of machine to blow away nuts that the sweeper head misses. This year is its 50th harvest for our family

That's just nutz! No consumer grade unit on the market today would last any length of time in such service!

True, but those were not consumer grade units when they were new.
They were sold at IH farm equipment dealerships.
Consumer grade was Huffy and Murray and Snapper.
Snapper and Murray also had better units available.

I currently have a good CC127 plus a parts donor 127, the next model smaller at 12hp.

Today a unit built to do what that 147 has been doing would half to be 30hp, liquid cooled and four wheel drive.
