Can't help you. You will have to give some specifics. What brand and size engine? Kohler? 1 cyl or 2? HP? Need internal gear or external arm?

I'm an old Gravely man, but not much help these days. Your Gravely could have had either a Pierce or Hoof governor. Pierce was made in Upland, Indiana. As far as I know, Pierce got out of the governor business many years ago and the plant in Upland, In was closed about a decade ago. Hoof is still in business. You might try contacting them. They have a website:

https://hoofgovernors.com/

Richards Lawn and Garden in Spencer West Virginia https://www.gravelyparts.com/ used to be about the best go-to place for older Gravely parts.

About the only sources I can think of would be Ebay or Facebook or ???? You may be able to find a complete model L cheaper than you can find just a governor. (Keep in mind the governor was an option on the Gravely engine tractors.)

Where are you located? Gravely equipment seems more common in the eastern 1/3 of the country.

you replied, so that is some help. i have a hoof which is no longer to be had. there are a few places that do rebuild them, but at a high cost, which is why i would like to find a used one. i am mailing mine out to Richards tomorrow. i'm from south central PA.
Thanks Rick
