case 222 deck raise/lower non hydraulic

Hello, my case 222 is not equipped with the hydraulic lift lever to the right of the steering column. Instead I have a vertical bar with a button on top to transport/mow with the deck that you manually pull back to you to transport or release forward to mow. Doing so really doesn't change much as far as the deck goes, the back still rides on the black plastic wheels and the front seems maybe only a half inch higher, does this sound right? I would like to get a plow for this tractor, is that a possibility with this style attachment lift?

Thank you

The deck should come up a couple inches off the ground.
Either your mower deck is not properly attached to the tractor and lift,
or the lift itself is not properly set up. You will probably need
an owner's manual for the tractor and another one for the deck.
You may also need some more parts - you will know more after reading
the manuals.

Sounds like you have possibly got the wrong lift links,, but to get wheels off the ground you do need to have the height adjustment in the lower holes,, and Yes you can sure use a blade with mechanical lift no problem,, we never sold a single one with out Hyd lift,, but I see other dealers did, I have a 210 and 224 with mechanical lift you may also need to level your deck as outlined in the ops manual

You can put short 1/2" bolts, nuts and washers in the lift link slots to increase the lift distance. Lots of guys with hydraulic lifts do that also as they don't lift very high otherwise.

Hello case nutty and Steve, I have leveled the deck read the manual and still when I pull back into transport position the back wheels do not come off when it’s locked into transport. If I pull on it and hold it back the back wheels will slightly come off the ground, like a quarter inch... I highly doubt it’s the wrong links because they look right from the manual. Most of the manual lever is free play only about the last 1/3 of a pull does anything as far as up down. Where can I find a plow? I imagine finding a case 222 plow is not easy to come by.. can I put one on from a different tractor?

If you have a welder and some steel and some time you can adapt/cobble
a blade from another brand onto your tractor. You might look on eBay for
the correct blade first.

Wheel Horse blades are the easiest to adapt - just my opinion.

All CASE 200/400/600 Series Compacts from 1971 and up use the snap-loc system,, that said look for a 44 or 54" blade,, I have 54" ones I use in snow and dirt with no problem on my 222's, I did take a 38" cub cadet blade I had taken on trade and built a snap-loc mount for it for a customer,, on the wheels,, where do you have the height pin locked into,, like I said before to get wheels to clear you need to lower the height pin to raise the wheels as in the lowest cutting setting/holes they will still touch the ground this is normal,

Same blade is shown here on both models

Hi Case Nutty,

I have lowered the cutting height pin the the lowest pin and they still touch the ground. It's only when I pull back and hold back they slightly lift off. When I allow the lever to travel forward a bit into the locked position they are back on the ground. I am gonna try "shortening" the links by adding some sort of bolt and see if that gets it up any higher. I am so obsessed over getting it higher because taking the deck on and off to plow isnt something id like to frequently do. I will look for a snap loc blade but it doesn't seem too common.

Thank you,
Richie

You cannot leave the mower deck on and mount a dozer blade,, they both use the front mount,, takes 3 min to remove a deck,, can you post a pic of your hand lever latching plate for me,, I have seen folks grind on them and then the lift lever cant be fully locked in the max raise position, if yours has been worked on/modified or it has a hand made one on it like my 224 has they are available new yet for a reasonable price,, Barnaveld implement has most any part for them and are great guys to deal with

Hello All,

I added some tie wire to the top of the lift links (bolts were too much) which shortened them. Now when the cutting deck is in the lowest position the back wheels are a good 2 inches off the ground. In the highest position they lightly touch. Thank you, I will keep my eye out for a plow but I don't think I will have much luck..

Thank you,

Richie
