Sunday, lost the pole barn. Two JD 212's. one 210. & Case 444 & 220. just sick !!
What is a current john deere model,equivalent to a 1986 212. Thanks.

Sorry about the fire. A current model John Deere LGT
for insurance replacement purposes might have to be
X500 or better. I do not believe ground engaging
implements like a tiller or plow are compatible
with smaller new tractors.

Ours burned years ago when I was a kid, and that still leaves a mark...

Wow! That is sad. It does not help the loss but thankfully you are not physically hurt. "Stuff" can be replaced.
Go to the website, Tractordata.com Look up your original tractor for specifications and then browse the site for comparable tractors. With that information, look at new tractors of similar size.
Hopefully, you have good insurance.
I had a fire about 20 years ago. Fortunately, it was contained inside the garage but my Jubilee was heavily damaged. Insurance was very fair with me and I was able to bring it back to life. I use it regularly.
