Case 446 carb problem?

Could someone, maybe, please help me with my old reliable Case lawn tractor. Its a sturdy Case 446 with a Onan B43M motor. I have had it over 20 yrs. and I am a very capable mechanic. Rebuilt the motor 5 yrs ago. Ran great until last year, until it developed a bad surge..,I rebuilt the carb..., and got thru the year. Now.. no surge (purrs like a kitten at idle), but power fad and spitting at full throttle. Won't run with load on (mower deck). Re-checked carb float level and high speed jet (good and good)(fine mist coming in) just wants to conk out unless I play the choke. Govener is not stuck and seems to play along with the throttle. Any Ideas.., Thanks

Remove the fuel pump cover, spring, seat, gasket, diaphragm and the reed block.

Check to make sure that all four reeds (two on each side of the block) are sealing.

If not theirs a trick to bending them that may get them to seal. Trying it is worth a shot before spending a wad of cash on a complete rebuild kit.

thanks for all the advice..., just to let you all know, I worked it out. It was electrical!! I saw the plug wire to coil connection was not tight, so replaced plug wires AND coil. Then saw the wire from coil to distributer was a little iffy. Replaced that too. And while add it, had an extra condenser, so, replaced that too (replaced points last year). Some or all of those little things amounted to my little lawn tractor now running GREAT. Thought for sure it was carb, but at high RPM and load, electrical can be just as important. Thanks for all the input guys, and hope advice helps you in the future
