I have a 25 year old Scotts (made by JD) S1642. Just replaced the battery and went to start and all I get is a click. I took battery out and
connected directly to the starter. The starter turned but the mower would not turn over. I used jumper cables which I then connected the jumper
cables from battery to the battery terminals under the seat and used the start switch and the mower fired right up. I turned the mower off after
15 minutes of running and tried to start it again with with jumper cables and only got a click, Any ideas??
PS; Not too technically proficient when it comes to small engines but do not want to pay to bring it to a shop
