Hi, I'm still having trouble with my lawn tractor.
This has started a month or 2 ago. If you try to back up, up hill it screams. Or if you change hydrostatic lever too fast. Some one said it's probably a relief valve. I would like to know where it is and how to get at it and how to tighten it somewhat. Does anyone know of these things?

I was probably the one that suggested that you were hearing a relief valve. The issue is that if you have the transmission in your mower that I think you have, it is not really considered a repairable unit. Although the parts may be available on the internet, the best repair may be to replace the transmission. All the internal parts are set up at the factory and I don't know how to tell you to adjust the relief valve(s).

You did confirm that you had plenty of oil in the transmission, didn't you? And that it is mounted firmly in the frame, so it can't twist and slack the belt.

If it's a Tuff Torq transmission (probably the K46) you can get repair parts for under $300 (probably less), just get the numbers off of it and call TT and they can get you the right ones. A new one will probably cost you up to $1,000, a used one will likely have problems and need rebuilt anyway. Several YouTube vids show how to do the repair. It doesn't look too complicated. Or, if you are really handy and adventurous look for a replacement larger TT that has similar mounting points and control placement and fit it in. I saw a posting where a guy replaced his K46 with a K71, took less than a day to do the swap. I have a K71 in my JD GT275 and it's a heavy duty transmission.
