String Trimmer

Don't see a forum for two cycle engines, so I will try here. I am not an expert on two cycle engines. Have a Lawn Boy string trimmer when you try to start it, it acts like it is locked up. Will snap the rope handle out of your hand or break the rope. Take the spark plug out and it rolls fast and furious like the breeze. So I thought maybe carbon build up in the combustion chamber making too much compression. Basically there was none. but cleaned it all up and put it all back together. Still had same old problem. WHAT AM I MISSING. It's not fuel build up. You can pull it over several times with the plug out take a propane torch at the spark plug hole, burn any fuel out, put the plug back in and it's still the same. Grasping at straws! Thank you for your thoughts.

Try taking of the muffler/exhaust. My guess is there something blocking any air or exhaust coming out on the exhaust cycle. That is why it will spins freely with the spark plug our.

Thanks to both of you fellows. I am kind of thinking I checked the exhaust, but I don't remember it's been over a year ago. If and when I find the problem I will let you know. I hate it when I try to help someone and you never hear back as to whether they got it fixed or not and if you gave them the right advise.

Since it will spin with the plug out, but not in, to me, it would seem it would take gas in, but on cumbustion/exhaust, there is a blockage.
Had it with a vehicle, ran like crap, no power. Finally they cut the muffler and it was packed full by mice storing food, so think yours may be plugged with derbies or something.

Min is going on 15 years and still going strong. June 24 2003 a tornado went through my place, had to have a little work done on it and still going good. I think it need a carb and choke work.
