So I got a call this morning form a guy who has one and he says the PTO is weak. Does this one have the electric PTO?? If yes is this likely to be a bad PTO clutch or is it maybe a poor connection causing the clutch to not pull in like it should. I know not much to go on but so far that is all the info I have

When you get a chance to go look. Let us know approx hours, condition of belts, bearings in deck are they seized and dragging like crazy, low voltage on the charging system. Is the deck full of crap on top. Every one or all of these can cause problems.

That is a Mitsubishi-built 27hp diesel, about '97. Not likely to be electric, probably internal clutch in the trans.

It came in this morning. If you try to shift the PTO into gear you get a clicking sort of noise but it will not go in. Looks like you have to pull the top cover off to get to the PTO linkage etc. Which will be fun in it self because you have to pull the fuel tank the seat and a bunch of sheet metal just to pull the lift cover and even then that may not be enough to get to the PTO shift coupler if it has one. But going by what I had already check seems like it has a slide couple like many PTO set up and it is messed up but till I view the CD and get into it I will not know unless some one here has been in one and knows

Well I have looked it over and I think I found where the problem is but it will take splitting it between the transmission and rear end. It appears to have a broken couple right at the back end of the transmission. You can look down in the oil fill plug and see where the PTO is sort of skipping at a coupler
